The client wanted to make their small garden, a useful and more productive space, that was full of plants, seating/entertaining areas as well as being really low maintenance. So, two seating areas were added. The first by the house to catch the morning sun, with a retaining wall and herbs. This now meant that the rest of the garden was level. The second area at the back of the garden was fitted with trellis, paving and planters, to create a subtly secluded dining area for friends and family. A Beth Chatto gravel-inspired planting plan was added to create a colourful and sculptural effect to the centre of the garden, and hide the washing line!
